Developing a kindness habit at an early age can have a profound impact on happiness and success as we all know. Why not reward kind behavior in our schools? What would our city be like if every school regarded kindness as important as any other aspect of education? If we are unwilling to teach and reward kind behavior in our schools, children will not be able to understand the importance of kindness. Today, we challenge all educational institutions in our community to follow our program of giving out kindness awards as one of their student recognitions.
Since Rev. Mike Robertson became the Minister of Community Outreach Community Baptist Church, we have distributed Love Kindness buttons throughout Milwaukee and neighboring communities. A Milwaukee Public Elementary School has been giving awards for kindness for over a year and annual awards have been awarded to a deserving student at Piedmont College each year for more than ten years. Through the efforts of Minister Robertson, this award has also been given out each year to a student at Piedmont College.
While we are pleased that our initiatives have started to come to fruition, we still continue to encourage even more schools and community institutions to join us in giving out awards of kindness. You can help us take that first step by sending us your kindness stories and nominations. We will print these in future columns, and everyone who sends in a nomination will receive a Love Kindness package. Give us a call for more information.
